Oncology Esthetics is a complementary therapy that can provide great benefits to you before, during and after cancer treatment. Soothing skin care and nail care treatments tailored for you can ease symptoms and skin reactions, improve skin and restore a sense of well-being. Oncology Esthetics DOES NOT treat the cancer, but it can help you cope with cancer, its treatments and the side effects and help you feel better.
The benefits of a spa service for a patient undergoing cancer treatments by an Oncology Trained Esthetician are:
Touch: Gentle touch has been shown to reduce stress and pain, helps in physical and psychological functions and helps to increase in the ability to cope with treatments and side effects,
Mindfulness: Mindfulness can relieve stress, reduce chronic pain and improve sleep.
A Watchful Eye: Aestheticians trained in Oncology Esthetics are trained to keep an eye out for new or changing lesions on the skin and can alert you to see a doctor for evaluation.
Products/Ingredients: There are a lot of products on the market that say they are safe for cancer patients, Your Oncology Trained Esthetician has studied extensively in the contraindications of certain skin care ingredients during cancer treatments. They will spend time choosing the correct products for you that will provide the needed benefits. I use Hale and Hush, a product line created specifically for cancer patients and health-challenged skin. Hale and Hush is Paraben-Free, Gluten- Free, Sulfate-Free, Dermatologist Tested, Not tested on animals and has no artificial fragrance.
I do require an intake form and doctors release for all skincare treatments, I can e-mail you the forms. A list of all medications is also needed so that I can tailor your treatment around your cancer treatments.
